The passion for innovation that has always characterized the brand Serralunga, has led the company to a constant scientific and technologic development.
At the Salone del Mobile 2014 it was officially presented the last STEP-AHEAD of the brand that is the new self-cleaning technology of Serralunga products, printed in Polyethylene and Polypropylene, thanks to titanium dioxide.
The company has started an experiment, along with TiO2 Lab *, where the products based on titanium dioxide and irradiated with UVA light, even at low intensity, activate themselves showing the following performances:
- self-cleaning of the surfaces on which they are applied;
- decomposition of pollutants in the air;
- antibacterial effect;
- considerable reduction of aging effects.
The chair Kubrick design by Marc Sadler on which the experiment was done, represents the brilliant result after several months of atmospheric agents’ exposure. As you can see, the treated area looks much cleaner than the untreated one, although there has been no proper cleaning.
Serralunga products today also in self-cleaning version, are more and more the benchmark of Outdoor Design.
* Testing conducted by TiO2 Lab s.n.c. on the study of the ability of the Titanium Dioxide, Titanium PE-PP based products to make self-cleaning the surface of plastic materials based on polyethylene supplied by the firm Serralunga Srl (Biella). The laboratory TiO2 is certified UNI EN ISO 9001: 2006. The certificate relates to the “Engineering services development in range of nanotechnologies based on titanium dioxide and its deriving."
